Position Overview

The Survey Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the surveying department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality surveying services to clients while managing a team of surveyors and drafters. The role involves strategic planning, project management, and technical oversight to meet the needs of various land development and civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and lead the surveying department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery in accordance with client specifications and industry standards.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to provide comprehensive surveying solutions.
Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and AutoDesk to produce high-quality survey designs.
Prepare and review proposals for surveying projects and manage client relationships.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices in surveying.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and mentorship to department staff.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in land surveying (management experience strongly preferred).
College degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification strongly preferred.
Proficient in CAD software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoDesk, etc.
Experience with GIS applications such as ArcGIS and ArcMap is a plus.
Strong knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and equipment.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
