Director of Land Survey

Position Overview
The Director of Land Survey is responsible for overseeing all land surveying operations within the organization. This role includes managing a team of surveyors, ensuring compliance with regulations, and utilizing advanced surveying techniques to provide accurate data for projects. The Director will also collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure that surveying efforts align with project goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the land surveying team to ensure precise and timely execution of surveying projects.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of land surveys, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize advanced surveying equipment and technology to improve accuracy and efficiency in data collection.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to provide essential surveying data for project development.
  • Conduct boundary determinations and provide expert analysis on land measurements and layouts.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of surveying equipment used by the team.
  • Prepare detailed reports and technical documents related to survey findings and methodologies.
  • Implement risk assessment protocols to identify and mitigate potential issues in surveying projects.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to survey staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Registered/Professional Land Surveyor (RLS or PLS) in the state of Arizona.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and regulations.
  • Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and mapping software is preferred.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective technical writing skills for report preparation and documentation.
