Location: Los Angeles, CA (Bel-Air) - Onsite

Salary: 125k-140k DOE

Position Overview

We are a school for gifted children and are looking for a Controller to join our team! We have a wonderful work / life balance as we have 5-6 weeks off per year in addition to our 3 weeks of PTO! We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations within a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management to support our mission and goals. You will report to and support the CFO as well as supervise the Accounting Manager and Accounting Ops Associate. 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the organizations general accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Develop and oversee budgeting processes, providing financial insights to support strategic planning.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring timely reporting to stakeholders.
• Conduct variance analysis and forecasting to support financial decision-making.
• Manage cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
• Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Qualifications

• BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or MA degree in Accounting preferred 
• 5+ yrs experience in non-profit accounting (preferably in an educational setting)
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
• Demonstrated ability in budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
• Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings depending on school events
