Established Civil Litigation Firm Seeking Civil Defense Attorney in Baltimore, MD
A well-established civil litigation firm with over 30 years of experience is seeking a skilled Civil Defense Attorney to join its Baltimore, MD office. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex civil matters including toxic torts, product liability, personal injury, and commercial litigation for national and regional clients. The attorney will be responsible for managing case files from initial investigation through trial or resolution, with a strong emphasis on litigation strategy, motion practice, and client interaction. The firm provides a collaborative, professional environment focused on delivering effective and ethical legal defense.
Offer:
$130,000 - $160,000 annual base salary, depending on experience and trial background

Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Maryland
3+ years of civil litigation experience preferred, ideally with defense-side background
Proven courtroom and deposition experience, along with strong legal writing and case evaluation skills
Ability to manage multiple complex files with attention to deadlines and client expectations
Comfortable working independently and as part of a seasoned litigation team
Responsibilities:
Handle all phases of litigation including investigation, discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiation, and trial preparation
Develop legal strategies and communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, and co-counsel
Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda with minimal supervision
Attend court hearings, mediations, and trials across Maryland as needed
Stay current on legal developments relevant to defense practice and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and case strategy sessions
